El Deafo is such a fantastic exploration into the world of coping and living with a disability. Cece becomes death after contracting meningitis. This book follows a child's journey, as experienced through her eyes, as she turns her disability into a superpower. The graphic novel is in comic book form and such a wonderful and inspiring read for children. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because not only is the layout attractive and engaging, the story is so inspiring, it's no wonder the book was awarded The Newberry award.
