What Happens
When I Talk to God is a picture book is a children's picture book that explains
the concept of prayer. It explains what prayer is, its purpose, and how to do
it. Prayer is demonstrated as simply speaking to God as you would speak to a
friend, anytime and anywhere. You can speak about good things or bad things.
You can pray for blessings over others. Most importantly, the book teaches that
even children can talk (pray) to God.
There is a huge
portion of time spent on how prayer is used to give thanks for all our
blessings.
Being of a
Christian background, I give this book 4 out of 4 starts. The story is great
for reading aloud to children and the illustrations are very interactive and go
great with the message of the book. One thing that caught my and really
impressed me is that it is prohibited to sell this book or give it away to
raise funds of for any purpose considered for profit. The goal of the publisher
is to get the message across and I admire that. I see the information found in
this book as the equivalent of the message being taught at any evangelical
Sunday school and a message I myself instill in my own children. I know many
may be opposed to a book that educates on religion, but I think as long as the
book is of a message that is being taught at home as part of family values, I
don't see anything wrong with it. To be honest, My children and I discuss
several religions and respect each persons faith. My older two have actually
read literature on other religions and were very surprised to find that many
religions have several similarities. As for my review of What Happens When I
Talk to God. I'd encourage it be read to all children.
