As an
adult, I still enjoy a good Dr. Seuss Book. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish,
Blue Fish follows a boy and a girl named Jay and Kay and the many amazing
creatures they have for friends and pets. The book is the type of beginner book
that engages the young reader in fun and infectious rhymes. The book celebrates
how much fun imagination can be. The rhymes in the book are so inviting for
children to fill words in and sound words out in sing son style that really
never gets old. The illustrations in this book pair well with the sing song
rhyming of the story. It amazes me how even though this book was published in
the 60's, it is still a joy to read and to hear aloud today, almost 50 years
later.
I give this book
4 out of 4 stars as a beginner reader. The book is fun and engaging for young
readers and seasoned readers alike. New readers will have fun singing the
rhymes, and even forming their own rhymes after.
